WHO

Why the name matters

The name Star Stuff comes from a simple idea that has shaped how I see the world.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
— Carl Sagan

Carl Sagan was reminding us that nothing exists in isolation. Every person, every organization, every idea is part of a much larger story. Context matters. Meaning matters. And understanding comes from seeing how things connect.

That philosophy sits at the center of my work.

Roman Perez • Creator

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creating.

I studied Entrepreneurship and Marketing at the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) and spent countless hours at the student-run TV station. It was there that I learned camera work, editing, and producing, eventually becoming President. Those experiences taught me that great storytelling requires vision, technical craft, and the ability to lead a team toward a shared goal.

Whether it’s filmmaking, music, photography, cooking, or baking, I’m happiest when I’m making something meaningful.

With multiple video production awards (including first place honors for documentary storytelling) I'm now focusing that expertise on nonprofits and purpose-driven organizations whose missions deserve to be amplified.

When you work with me, you get award-winning documentary expertise with the personal attention and creative freedom that only an independent filmmaker can provide.

The Star Stuff Media logo is a pie, inspired by a line from Carl Sagan:

“If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.”

Sagan was pointing to everything that must exist before the finished product appears. Ingredients alone are not enough. The laws of physics, time, matter, all have to be in place long before the pie is possible.

The same principle applies to effective videos. The foundation is the story. Without that foundation, the pieces may be well made, but they do not connect.

The pie logo is a reminder that story comes first. It is the “invent the universe” step. Everything else builds from there.

Let’s see if this is a good fit
